Do you want to know where our products come from?

All our products are local, regional, seasonal and fresh. We support farmers and products rejected by the traditional market. Why is that? All of our farmers' products are fresh and of high quality, but the food distribution market imposes very specific rules on what reaches, for example, supermarkets and the traditional market in general. Beauty standards and market practices do not justify food waste. Our job, together with our farmers and customers, is to channel surplus produce that would normally go to waste. We give a new home to imperfect but great-for-consumption products that would otherwise end up in the trash and contribute to food waste.

In our distribution chain we rely on our regional farmers, the stars of our show.

Here are two examples of regional farmers: António and Jorge!

António is our cherry grower. He grows them in Fundão, the so-called cherry capital due to the prevalence of cherries in the area and the well-known Cherry Festival. The cherry season begins in April and lasts until summer. A large part of António's harvest is not sent to the traditional market due to some visual imperfections that may be present in the fruit. This doesn't mean that his fruit isn't still delicious, because the explanation for the appearance of an imperfect cherry is quite simple. When there are rainy days followed by lots of sunshine, the cherry bursts and leaves a small scar on the outside. It's a process that in no way detracts from the taste of António's fruit.

Jorge is our blueberry grower. At the age of 50, he decided to embark on his first farming adventure. In 2020 he managed to produce 220 tons of blueberries! Equal Food began to help Jorge sell the quantities he couldn't sell to his customers. This rejection stemmed from the fact that his regular buyers didn't consider his blueberries suitable because of their shape and size. Once again, the physical appearance in no way detracts from the wonderful taste of Jorge's blueberries.
