Do you want to know where our products come from?

All our products are local, regional, seasonal and fresh. We support farmers and produce that is rejected by the traditional market. And why? All our farmers’ products are fresh and of high quality, but the food distribution market imposes very specific rules on what reaches, for example, large supermarkets and the traditional market in general. Beauty standards and market practices do not justify food waste. Our work, together with our farmers and customers, is to channel surplus products that would normally go to waste. We give a new home to imperfect but perfectly edible products that would otherwise end up in the trash and contribute to food waste.

In our distribution chain we rely on our regional farmers, the stars of our show.

We present you two examples of regional farmers: António and Jorge!

António is our cherry grower. He grows them in Fundão, the so-called cherry capital due to the predominance of cherries in the area and the famous Cherry Festival. The cherry season starts in April and lasts until summer. A large part of António's harvest is not channeled to the traditional market due to some visual imperfections that may be present in the fruit. This does not mean that his fruit is not still delicious, as the explanation for the appearance of an imperfect cherry is quite simple. When there are days of rain followed by lots of sun, the cherry bursts and leaves a small scar on its exterior. This is a process that in no way detracts from the flavor of António's fruit.

Jorge is our blueberry farmer. At the age of 50, he decided to embark on his first agricultural production adventure. In 2020, he managed to produce 220 tons of blueberries! Equal Food started helping Jorge sell the quantities he was unable to sell to his customers. This rejection came from the fact that his regular buyers did not consider his blueberries suitable due to their shape and size. Once again, the physical appearance in no way detracts from the wonderful taste of Jorge's blueberries.
