Why are fruits and vegetables considered "imperfect"?

Good question! The truth is that the market demands very high standards regarding the appearance of fruits and vegetables. This means that when a product is either too small or too large, when its color is not the most common, or when it appears to have stains or marks, these products are no longer "accepted" for sale in supermarkets.

It may also be that they have become surplus production: meaning that our farmers have not been able to sell them through traditional channels.

This is where we come in with our network of customers: together we rescue fresh products and combat food waste as a team.

How does it work?

Click here and choose one of our available hampers. You can subscribe to regular deliveries, thus maximizing your contribution to the fight against food waste.

With this subscription you will always have fresh products at home, and you can postpone or cancel orders at any time and at no cost. If, for now, you prefer to just buy a basket, simply choose the "one-time purchase" option.


What payment methods do we accept?

If it is a subscription, we accept credit cards. If it is a one-time purchase, we accept credit cards, payments by MB reference and MBway.

When will I receive my basket?

We deliver on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. To take advantage of weekday delivery, please make sure you place your order before 11:59pm on Sunday. We always send an email with delivery details at least 24 hours before delivery (if this is your first order, please check your spam folder).

What areas do you deliver to?

Lisbon

Our deliveries take place every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, between 9am-8pm.

Harbor

We deliver every Tuesday and Wednesday between 9am-8pm.

We deliver every Wednesday between 9am-8pm.

Are you planning to expand into other areas?

YES! We would love to expand our community to more areas so we can fight food waste together. We just need enough people who are interested.

Are your products certified organic?

While we love organic products and are always looking for an organic option, not all of our farmers are certified organic. And since our main goal is to reduce food waste, we give all farmers a chance. Stay tuned for updates on our products.

Where do imperfect fruits and vegetables come from?

Almost all of our products are sourced in Portugal. We make occasional exceptions (for example, some of the avocado batches are sourced from Spain).

Currently, our main farmers are located in Portugal: Torres Vedras, Lamego, Melides (Alentejo), Aldeias do Pico (Alentejo), Lagoa de Santo André (Alentejo) and Algarve.

Can I choose what's in my Equal Food basket?

At the moment you can choose between a basket with free-range eggs or a vegan basket with a bag of mushrooms.

As for the rest of the fresh produce, we always do our best to include a wide variety of fruits and vegetables to keep everyone happy. These change every two weeks, according to the regional and seasonal harvest. At this time, we are unable to accommodate individual preferences.

Can I schedule my delivery?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to guarantee delivery scheduling with our distribution partners. Every Monday you will receive an email with the estimated delivery date for your order.

I have allergies. What should I do?

We strive to accommodate your needs as much as possible and ensure that all of our customers can receive our boxes. However, we are unable to customize individual boxes at this time.

How do I pause or cancel my Equal Food subscription?

In the login section, in the top right corner of our page, access the private area and change it. You will receive a notification to deactivate your account from that moment.

If you wish to cancel your order after the billing date, you must do so via our email orders@equalfood.co until 9:00 pm on Sunday.
